Top 10 NFL QBs of All Time

Second edition to my Top_10 everything  lists. This will focus on All Time NFL QB's. The criteria I use to create this list are Super Bowl wins, Popularity, Number of wins, and MVP awards.

10. Dan Marino-No Super Bowl rings but holds or held several major records at the QB position. Became first quarterback to reach 60,000 yards. 1984 NFL's Most Valuable Player.Became first quarterback in NFL history to complete 400 touchdown passes












9.Roger Staubach- 2× Super Bowl champion (VI, XII), 5× NFC Champion (1970, 1971, 1975, 1977, 1978), 1971 NFL MVP (MX), Super Bowl MVP (VI), NFL 1970s All-Decade Team. The first of four players to win both the Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl MVP
8.Troy Aikman-3× Super Bowl champion (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX), Super Bowl MVP (XXVII), Walter Payton Man of the Year (1996). 90 of his 94 career wins were in the 1990s and were the most by any quarterback in any decade until Peyton Manning surpassed him.


7.Johnny Unitas-Super Bowl V Champion (1970), 3× NFL Champion (1958, 1959, 1968), 1957 NFL MVP, 1959 NFL MVP, 1964 NFL MVP, 1967 NFL MVP. For 52 years he held the record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass (which he set between 1956–1960).
6. Steve Young-3× Super Bowl Champion (XXIII, XXIV, XXIX), Super Bowl XXIX MVP,1992 NFL MVP, 1994 NFL MVP.One of only 4 QB's to lead the league in touchdown passes 4 times.Threw for 3,000 or more yards six times and had 20 or more touchdown passes in a season five times, and posted a passer rating of 100 or higher six times.
5.Brett Favre-"The Gunslinger" 3× AP NFL MVP (1995–1997) 5× NFC Player of the Year (1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2007), 2× NFC Champion (1996, 1997), Super Bowl champion (XXXI). Favre is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 70,000 yards, over 500 touchdowns, over 300 interceptions, over 6,000 completions, and over 10,000 pass attempts.He holds many NFL records, including most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most career pass attempts, most career interceptions thrown, most consecutive starts by a player, most consecutive starts by a quarterback, most career victories as a starting quarterback.
4. Peyton Manning-"The Sheriff" Super Bowl champion (XLI), Super Bowl MVP (XLI), 4× AP NFL MVP (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009). Has thirteen 4,000-yard passing seasons. He is one of the most recognizable and parodied players in the NFL. The only downfall to Peyton Manning is his Playoff record which is 9-11, with Eight One-and-Done Postseason Trips.

3. Terry Bradshaw-4× Super Bowl champion (IX, X, XIII, XIV), 2× Super Bowl MVP (XIII, XIV). The first quarterback to win three and four Super Bowls .In four career Super Bowl appearances, he passed for 932 yards and 9 touchdowns, both Super Bowl records at the time of his retirement. 

2. Tom Brady-3× Super Bowl champion (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX), 2× Super Bowl MVP (XXXVI, XXXVIII), 2× AP NFL MVP (2007, 2010). Formerly held the NFL record for the most touchdown passes in a single regular season. His career postseason record is 17–7; his playoff win total is the highest in NFL history. He also helped set the record for the longest consecutive win streak in NFL history with 21 straight wins over two seasons (2003–2004). In 2007 he led the Patriots to the first undefeated regular season since the institution of the 16-game schedule.
1. Joe Montana-"Joe Cool"-4× Super Bowl Champion (XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV),3× Super Bowl MVP (XVI, XIX, XXIV), 1989 NFL MVP (AP, PFWA, NEA, SN, MX),1990 NFL MVP (AP). Montana started in four Super Bowl games and won all of them. Montana holds postseason records for most career touchdown passes (45), games with a passer rating over 100.0 (12) and is second in passing yards (5,772) and games with 300+ passing yards (6, tied with Kurt Warner). He also tied Terry Bradshaw's record for consecutive playoff games with at least two touchdown passes.

  1. Some have asked about Drew Brees and John Elway and why they didn't make the cut. Let's start with Drew Brees, he does have a Super Bowl Ring and A Super bowl MVP. But last year was a horrible season and it just goes to show you Sean Payton is the special ingredient to the Saints success not Mr. Brees. As for John Elway, He has all the accolades from MVP awards to Super Bowl wins. John Elway was able to obtain his Super Bowls with one of the leagues top RB in Terrell Davis and a Legendary Defense. So I am not sold on his performance in big time games like the others that made the list.
